I provide professional development for educators to introduce them to teaching strategies and curriculum content to help their students reach their academic and personal potential. Please get in touch to find out more.
Workshops provide teachers with an overview and experience of
teaching strategies that support kids’ need for autonomy, belonging and competence;
social, emotional and critical and creative thinking skills and how to teach them; and
how to integrate social and emotional competencies across all subject areas.
Participants are given practical action plans so that they may introduce The Whole Student approach to their classroom the next day using a variety of straightforward resources and ideas.
First published in 2003, BounceBack! (3rd edition) is a fully integrated whole school social and emotional learning curriculum program promoting sustainable mental health, wellbeing and resilience for students and teachers.
Once the individual context of the school is established, practical advice is given about:
teaching explicit social and emotional skills in their classrooms using the Bounce Back! program; and
integrating social and emotional and critical thinking skills into lessons using cooperative teaching strategies.
In order to ensure that the implementation of social and emotional learning is sustainable and that all staff are committed (and relatively stress free!), I work with schools to ensure that the following facets of the process run smoothly.
